Boston Aircontrols announces new quick running family of actuators from Belimo
Eric DeWallace of Boston Aircontrols has started to stock a new actuator offering from Belimo that is a response to demands from customers for a faster running time. Whether in heating or cooling circuits, ventilation, or VAV systems - the new quick running actuators open and close air dampers at top speed. Quick running actuators ensure fresh air in laboratories, paint rooms, and other sensitive areas. Rugged motors, gearboxes and NEMA 2 housings guarantee a long service life - even under the harshest conditions. Previously, engineers and building managers were forced to use costly, inaccurate, maintenance hungry pneumatic actuators when fast actuation was required.
DeWallace says Pneumatic systems become inaccurate over time due to hysteresis, and when you couple that inaccuracy with all the maintenance required with the air compressor and air drying stations, these new motors really fill a demand." Systems that require fast acting damper actuation are prevalent in any building with fume hoods or processes that induce dangerous chemicals into the ambient air during experiments or manufacturing.
These new Belimo electronic actuators include automatic current reduction at standstill, as well as a mechanical torque lock that lowers the energy consumption to a minimum. Available for damper applications in rotating and linear versions, these actuators are load independent over the entire specified operating range. Enhanced features include:
- Speed- 2.5 seconds for 90 degrees at 35 in/lb torque models, and 7 seconds for 140 in/lb models.
- 100% torque guaranteed over entire operating range
- Patented load reduction gear technology allows for longer life and smoother operation
